After a disappointing qualifying yesterday, Max Verstappen must minimise the damage as much as possible. The Dutchman still has many strategic options for his team at Red Bull Racing's home race. McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes start with the same tyres for both of their drivers at the start of the race. Lando Norris will start the race in pole position with Charles Leclerc right behind him. Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton make up the second row.
Liam Lawson only has one new medium compared to the other top drivers' two. Verstappen and Bortoleto, right behind him, also have two mediums.

Available tires for the Austrian GP
Max Verstappen will have multiple strategic options available to him in front of his home crowd at the Red Bull Ring. A disadvantage for the Dutchman, both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have the same tires available during the race. The McLaren drivers and Verstappen will each have an unused set of hard tires, two new sets of mediums, and three sets of used softs.
The Red Bull driver will need to make up many positions in Spielberg. He needs to pass both Ferraris if he wants to compete for the podium. Unfortunately for Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton also have the exact same tire options.
Although the tires available to the top teams in Spielberg are the same for all drivers except for
Yuki Tsunoda,
who failed to get past Q1 yesterday, the difference can, of course, be made with the strategy. The tires that the twenty F1 drivers can use in Austria can be seen below:
